After 9 weeks, the video is finished. There are 4 main animations in the video: The Dumbo, The Manchester Square, The Disney Castle and The Mickey Symbol, as well as countless lyric animations.
The finished video is being showcased at an Art Exhibition at the Glass Centre from the 13th to the 19th of May.
While the dumbo animation would've been out of place in the midway video, I thought of a way to put it with a shot made in manchester, by having all of the manchester footage in the first 45 seconds overplayed with footage of Disneyland, it looks like the person behind the camera is always dreaming of Disneyland, before they finally arrive at the beginning of the first chorus.
The Dumbo animation has overplayed a footage of the tramline in Manchester
During the easter break, I filmed the main highlight of my video in Disneyland Paris. This particular venture had been booked since September before I started the course, and It seems to be a good opportunity to work around this.
The holiday itself was 5 days and I had a number of shots that I wanted to get straight away, these being, the disney dreams show, the Motors Action stunt show and the Meet & Greet with Mickey.
Obviously spending 5 days there meant I got a lot of footage which was good as, I needed a lot more than I got in Manchester.
The opening to the 2010 film "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" features animated symbols and lyrics that match with the outgoing nature of the film.
The animations themselves are animated by independent visual artists "Shynola", and feature lightning bolts, credits and lyrics to the song that is overlayed.
This is an interesting feature as they are quite simple to make, I believe my video should have a mix of long-detailed animations such as my Manchester Square rotoscope, and quick simple ones like the ones in this video.
Halfway through the project we have the midway crit, to show off what we've been working on, talk about how we want to continue and get constructive criticism for the last month.
I've turned the Manchester footage into a short 45 second video. This uses the song I intend to use in the full video and features two animations.
The first animation uses the river to portray the first lyrics in the clip it, the water of the river is portrayed as dotted blue lines similar to the lines made in my Musical Instinct project.
The second animation is a rotoscope and follows the camera moving around a structure. The animation ends as the live action kicks in.
